Real-Time Insights.

Smarter Response.

Overview

Northumbria Police needed a step-change in how operational data supported frontline action. Partnering with Cybit, the force moved beyond static reports and manual workflows to real-time, mobile-first intelligence — empowering officers and analysts to make faster, sharper decisions, and building a foundation for the future of predictive policing.

Challenge

The force’s legacy reporting systems couldn’t keep pace with operational demands. Officers and analysts relied on manual spreadsheets and ageing QlikView dashboards, often working from data that was hours — sometimes days — out of date.
This created bottlenecks, delayed critical decisions, and stretched IT and analytics resources thin.

Northumbria Police needed to modernise their analytics environment to enable real-time data access, reduce reliance on specialist teams, and equip officers and analysts with the tools to act faster and smarter — while preparing the force for future innovation around AI and predictive analytics.

Northumbria Police set out to:

Empower officers with real-time operational data
Free analysts from manual reporting
Build a culture of data literacy and self-service
Future-proof their force for AI readiness
AI handles the routine—your team does the remarkable

Our vision for the future is to get a deep insight into our community and workforce needs, and to have a greater understanding of our capability to meet future demands.

Solution

Cybit worked closely with Northumbria Police to design a data platform that could evolve with the force’s needs — not just solve immediate challenges. We started by understanding the pressure points in their existing setup, then introduced the tools, training, and structure needed to shift from manual, resource-heavy reporting to real-time, actionable intelligence. The solution wasn’t just technical; it was cultural — built to reduce bottlenecks, empower teams at every level, and support a more agile, insight-led way of working across the organisation.

Qlik Sense rollout

Real-time, mobile-optimised dashboards made critical insights available to officers and staff on demand — from HQ to frontline.

Automated reporting

Qlik NPrinting automated the production and delivery of reports, removing manual reporting burdens and increasing consistency.

Self-service analytics

A new self-service framework gave departments direct access to the data they needed, reducing bottlenecks and dependency on central teams.

Super User programme

Cybit trained a network of “Super Users” — internal champions driving adoption, upskilling colleagues, and embedding a data-first mindset.

Ongoing consultancy and support

As the North East’s only Qlik Elite Partner, Cybit provided flexible, proactive support — ensuring Northumbria Police stayed at the forefront of data innovation.

Outcome

The impact of Cybit’s solution was immediate and far-reaching. Northumbria Police shifted from reactive reporting to real-time operational intelligence, putting critical data directly into the hands of officers and analysts. Analysts were freed from manual reporting cycles, able to focus instead on driving deeper strategic insights. Operational performance moved from daily reviews to hour-by-hour visibility, supporting faster decisions and more agile resource management. With a modern, scalable data platform in place, the force has built a foundation not just for today’s demands, but for future innovation — from AI-driven analytics to smarter data integration across every department.

Real-time access for frontline teams

Officers can now independently access operational data, supporting faster decisions in the field.

Smarter use of analyst time

Analysts focus on strategic interrogation and insights, not manual data wrangling.

Critical operational metrics, always available

Metrics like 999 call volumes, response times, and missing persons tracking are monitored in real-time, not retrospectively.

Agile performance management

Hour-by-hour performance reviews enable faster interventions, better resource planning, and improved public service delivery.

Future-ready infrastructure

Northumbria Police is now positioned to expand into AI-driven predictive analytics and further Qlik data integration projects, strengthening long-term operational resilience.

Cybit is very knowledgeable about Qlik. We like their support and hands on practical approach, and they are down to earth. Being demand-led, we find that flexibility and adaptability to be really useful.
