Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK – 4 March 2025 – Cybit, a specialist technology solutions provider of data and AI, cloud services, cyber security and managed IT services announces the appointment of James Hunnybourne as its new Executive Chairman.
Hunnybourne brings a wealth of expertise and experience from both commercial and public sector organisations, where he has led the development of multi-million business transformation projects to drive better outcomes. James will spearhead the next phase of Cybit’s development, optimising its expertise in AI, cloud, big data and cyber to drive explosive growth and position the business as the de facto leader in technology solutions that solve complex issues to drive business and societal benefits.
James has held senior roles at companies such as IBM, Logicalis, Softcat, and Ultima. At IBM, he gained insight into large-scale IT operations and enterprise solutions to drive change. At Softcat, he built an award-winning Services Division from scratch, growing it to a multi-million business. Most recently, at Ultima, Hunnybourne served as Chief Revenue Officer, where he was instrumental in driving significant growth.
James Hunnybourne commented: “Almost all technology providers talk about what they do—selling tools, services, and support. Few talk about why it matters. Cybit’s difference is that we take the time to understand and actualise real life outcomes. We don’t just sell IT; we empower businesses with information, insight, security, and transformation.
“Cybit has 30 years’ experience but it’s our robust data and now AI driven approach to strategy, expertise at point of need and the ability to act as an extension to our clients’ teams that means the solutions we provide, exceed expectations.
“We will continue to build on the value we provide, demonstrate how workforces can go from being simply IT enabled to information enabled and as a result, provide significant competitive advantage.”
This announcement is the first in a series of executive appointments that will take place imminently as James Hunnybourne executes on his leadership strategy for Cybit.
